About Botanify
What if plant identification could be as intuitive as asking a knowledgeable friend?
Botanify bridges the gap between complex botanical science and everyday plant curiosity. While most plant identification apps may overwhelm users with ads, subscription fees, scientific jargon and complex interfaces, we’ve built something differentâan AI-powered botanist that speaks your language. Whether you’re a nature lover wanting to keep your pets safe from potentially harmful plants, or a houseplant parent seeking the perfect care routine, Botanify translates the world of botany into actionable, friendly guidance. No PhD in plant science required.
The Tech Behind the Scenes
Optimizing for performance and cost
Under the hood, Botanify combines the power of open-source botanical datasets from iNaturalist, PlantNet, and Kaggle with modern machine learning. Our plant identification model was trained on an AMD 5700XTâadmittedly a “grandpa GPU” by 2025 standards, but with enough perseverance (and probably too much coffee), we achieved over 80% accuracy. This build leveraged the best AI tools of 2025. We used Google Gemini agents to compile and fact-check fun facts and care tips, while our identification model runs on Google Cloud Run with data stored on Supabase. Claude Sonnet and Opus helped craft both our frontend and backend, proving that the best AI tools can work together to solve real problems, at minimal cost.
Our Mission
Democratizing botanical knowledge for everyone
We’re keeping Botanify non-commercial for now, embracing the democratizing power of open source and generative AI. Our goal is simple: make plant knowledge accessible to millions of plant lovers worldwide, regardless of their botanical background or budget.
Every identification, every care tip, every “fun fact” is our way of connecting people with the natural world around them. Because whether you’re trying to identify that mysterious succulent on your windowsill or making sure your curious cat stays safe on your morning hike, plants are part of all our stories.
We hope you enjoy exploring with Botanify as much as we enjoy building it. Happy plant hunting!
