How It Works
- Botanify AI uses a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture — for text queries, the question is converted into a vector and the most relevant plant care content is retrieved from a database before being passed to the language model
- For photo diagnosis, an image embedding model matches the uploaded photo against the disease image database using visual similarity search
- The language model interprets those visual matches and frames the diagnosis in terms of the user’s actual plant — crop names from the training datasets never surface in the response
- Plant name resolution uses a three-level fallback: exact match → fuzzy match (handles typos and common name variants) → global search. “Snake plant”, “mother-in-law’s tongue”, and Dracaena trifasciata all resolve to the same plant
My Plants
- A dedicated My Plants tab now tracks every plant you have identified in a personal history
- Identifications are displayed in a scrollable grid with your original photo, the plant’s common name, date identified, and the confidence score from the model
- Filter your history by time period — from today through to all time
- Tap any plant to revisit its full details, or long-press to remove it from your history
- Requires an account — sign up or log in to save your discoveries across devices
Trending Plants
- The home screen now features a Trending Plants carousel showing the five most identified plants across the Botanify community over the past 90 days
- Tap any trending plant to view its full profile — species details, care information, and toxicity notes
Chat History
- The Ask tab now shows a full history of your past Plant Expert conversations
- Each conversation is organised by plant name and shows a preview of the last message and when it took place
- Tap any conversation to pick up where you left off — your full message history, including any photos sent and diagnosis results received, is saved and restored automatically
- Long-press a conversation to delete it
- Chat history is saved to your account and accessible across devices when logged in
Deployment
- Update your Botanify app to the latest version via the Apple App Store or Google Play.
